I love finding new restaurants where you’d least expect them and I found one in Philadelphia called Max and David’s. If you are in the Philadelphia area for business this is a place that you can take clients or others and not be embarrassed by the looks. The place is in a strip mall in the Elkin’s Park section of Philadelphia and the décor and ambiance is both tasteful and welcoming. There is an open kitchen so if you’re seated in the right direction you have a good view of what goes on in a kitchen and get to watch the flames and all the activity. Oddly enough, in all the times that I have been at Max and David’s, I’ve always had my back to the kitchen.
The wait staff if very friendly and they are also knowledgeable about the food that is on their menu. When I have asked for their suggestions, I have never been disappointed in what the recommended.
Now that we have spoken a little about the place and the staff, let’s talk about what we all want to know about, the food. The food is very tasty and the menu is very wide ranging. They have something for everyone, even vegans. And the vegetarian alternative isn’t just pasta primavera. Below is one of the appetizers that are on the menu, the Vegetarian Mezze platter with grilled pita. Everything on the platter was wonderful and I think that the plate was cleaned in a matter of minutes. Some of the other appetizers that I had there in previous visits have also been excellent. I’d recommend the onion rings with the chipotle mayonnaise.

The main courses were just as good. Here is the Grilled Chicken Sicilian that I had, The chicken was wonderfully done although the penne was a little underdone.

We also ordered one of the specials that night which was I think some kind of tune with wasabi mashed potatoes. According to my dad, it was very good.

Dessert wasn’t ordered the night that we went but from past visits I can tell you that the pastry chef does a bang up job there.
If you find yourself in Philadelphia, run don’t walk to Max and David’s. You won’t be disappointed.
